Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get a duplicate RC in Karnataka?

Typically 10–20 days from the date the duplicate application is accepted on Vahan, provided the loss affidavit and NCR are in place. If a biometric check is flagged, add another 5–7 days.

Can I drive while the duplicate DL is being processed?

No — you need a valid DL to legally drive. A copy of the NCR + the duplicate application acknowledgement provides short-term cover in case of a traffic check but is not a substitute for a valid DL. We recommend waiting for the smart card before resuming driving.

My RC is torn, not lost — does this bundle still apply?

Yes. Torn/mutilated RC/DL replacement follows the same workflow minus the NCR step, and costs slightly less. Tell us upfront and we adjust the quote.

Is an NCR mandatory for a duplicate DL?

Yes, Karnataka sub-RTOs ask for a police report (NCR is sufficient) plus a notarised loss affidavit before issuing a duplicate.
